Autism School Based Training:
Awareness of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the UK is growing, and more children are being recognised as presenting with traits associated with ASD than ever. Currently, it is thought that around 700,000 people in the UK have a diagnosis of autism. Although there is currently no cure for autism, providing the right support can improve the lives of those with ASD and their families.
A child spends around 40% of their waking weekday hours in school. For children with autism, it is essential that the adults they spend this time with not only understand the difficulties they face but are able to support and help manage these difficulties so that this 40% of their day, is positive!
Who needs this training?
These training days provide school based personnel with a thorough understanding of autism spectrum disorders. They are beneficial for teachers, teaching assistants, lunch duty staff, and members of the senior leadership teams. Teachers often feel that they do not have the required training to provide the optimal learning environment for children with ASD and find managing challenging behaviour very difficult in a mainstream setting. These training sessions will give confidence and inspiration to your teaching staff.
